County names new Tax Administrator
William “Witt” Putney has been named the new Wilson County Tax Administrator effective July 1, 2020 after current tax administrator Randy Faircloth announced he is retiring at the end of June.
Putney has seven years of experience with Wake County Government as Deputy Tax Administrator, has been a tax appraiser with Orange County Government and brings his experience as an appraisal manager into the leadership role.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor Degree in History/Political Science and is a lifelong resident of Wilson along with his wife, Dr. Kate Putney and son, William.
"Wilson County is a great place to live and work,” said Putney. “I was born and raised here, and I am excited to become more involved in the community working here. I am committed to serving people and value the vital role of tax administration in county governments.”
Putney will take his oath of office at the monthly commissioners meeting in July.
