Library | Food for Fines Forgiveness
Want to do a good deed for those in need and help yourself at the same time? Bring an undented, unexpired can of food to the Wilson County Public Library during the month of October and we’ll forgive $5 of your overdue fines! That’s right, one can equals $5 of forgiveness, and you can bring as many cans as you want. We not only want to feed people with this event, we want our customers to have a clean slate so you can borrow more books and movies to enjoy during the upcoming fall and winter months.
You can thank our wonderful library staff for thinking of this, and our Library Board of Trustees for wholeheartedly approving the idea. The food will be boxed and delivered to Hope Station, an organization founded by the faith leaders of Wilson County who saw the need to respond to human suffering in a more collaborative and efficient manner. It began its ministry in 1987 in Wilson’s old fire station, where it served until it moved into its new building at the corner of Goldsboro and Lee Streets in 2009. Its mission is to serve low-income persons in Wilson County, NC, by providing food for those who are hungry, shelter for homeless men, and financial assistance for families in crisis.
Join us in this effort to help those in need and take care of those overdue library fines at the same time. Food for Fines and food for the hungry. It’s a win/win! And if you don’t have any overdue fines, you may still donate some canned food to the library and we’ll send it along . For more information call the Wilson County Public Library at 252-237-5355.
