Security awareness is the key to eliminating exposures and is the best security tool used to address and reduce loss to Wilson County through the accidents, errors and omissions of users. Wilson County is committed to protecting its employees, business partners, the County itself, and its citizens who use County services, from illegal or damaging actions by individuals, either knowingly or unknowingly.

It is the purpose of the Wilson County Security Policies to detail the acceptable use of computer equipment, systems and software within the Wilson County network. These rules are in place to protect the employee and Wilson County. Inappropriate use exposes Wilson County to risks including virus attacks, denial of service attacks, compromise of network systems and services, compromise of sensitive personal health information and legal issues.

These policies apply to all employees, contractors, consultants, temporaries and all other workers at Wilson County, including all personnel affiliated with third parties. These policies apply to all equipment, software and other technology assets owned or leased by Wilson County, and all equipment, software and technology assets used in Wilson County facilities whether owned/leased by Wilson County, its employees or third parties.
