David Little Jr., District Conservationist/NRCS, provides technical assistance to the District and serves as the department head.
Dave works with landowners individually and in groups, to develop conservation plans using agronomic and engineering practices.
He also administers USDA conservation cost share programs.
Sue J. Glover, Administrative Coordinator, assist the general public with education materials and other information.
Sue coordinates the Soil and Water Conservation District Board meetings, Awards Banquet, and Poster, Essay, and Public Speaking Contest.
She prepares and submits the annual budget request to the County Finance Office for the department. Sue has received her Environmental
Education Certification this year. To receive a certification, one must complete several criteria that includes seven ten-hour instructional
workshops, fifty hours of out-of-doors experience, thirty hours teaching experience, and an action partnership with the educator taking the
lead role. She supports the activities of the District and represents the District at area and state meetings.
Ricky Hayes, Resource Conservationist II, meets with landowners and producers to inform them of district programs available
to assist with soil erosion and water conservation issues. He provides clients with assistance in the design and layout or Best Management
Practices (BMP's) used to address these issues. Ricky is a leader in the environmental education programs, along with other staff members,
with K-12 students, 4-H groups, and area Envirothon teams.
Anthony Hester, Resource Conservationist, is responsible for managing the NC Agricultural Cost Share Funds for Wilson County.
To further aid farmers and landowners, he will make sure the appropriate NCACSP funds are available to install and maintain Best
Management Practices (BMP's) when needed. He also assists with the EQIP and CRP programs. Anthony is currently attending workshops
to achieve the completion of his Environmental Education Certification.
Leigh Anna Rogerson, River Basin Technician, joined our staff in August 2005. She will be performing administrative and
technical work in developing plans to assist farmers and landowners in achieving nutrient reduction goals. Leigh Anna will contact
landowners and farmers to advise of regulatory requirements for agricultural operations in the Neuse and Tar Pam areas, options
for complying with requirements, and opportunities available to assist in installation of appropriate nutrient reduction practices.
She will be collecting data for annual reports on reduction requirements for Wilson County, Nash County, and Warren County.
