
Location: The landfill is located, east of the city of Wilson, at 4537 Landfill Road between NC 42 E and NC US 264 Alternate.
Hours of Operation: The landfill will accept construction debris, demolition debris, commercial yard waste, business and residential waste between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. Only residential customers may bring household trash and yard waste to the landfill on weekends, Saturday from 8am to 3pm. Used Motor Oil Collection: (NO CHARGE) Residents of the county are invited to bring used motor oil to the landfill. We have a 500 gallon tank that is serviced by Noble Oil Company. If you have over 100 gallons of oil, please call 291-7335. Please take care to prevent contamination of the oil with water. Store used oil in sealed containers. Used Antifreeze Collection: (NO CHARGE) Residents of the county are invited to bring used antifreeze to the landfill. We have a 350 gallon tank that is serviced by Noble Oil Company. Tires: (NO CHARGE) Residents may bring up to five tires (off of rim) to the landfill at one time without filling out a scrap tire certificate. There is a charge of $60/ton for tires not included in the scrap tire program. Yard Waste Mulch: The leaves and limbs brought to the landfill are ground, screened and placed into windrows. The material decomposes into mulch. Mulch may be picked up at the landfill Monday through Saturday between 8am and 10:00am. Price varies according to size of load. (Pick-up truck or small trailer is $5.00 per load.) Appliances: (NO CHARGE) Old appliances (white goods) may be brought to the landfill and convenience centers during normal operating hours. Pesticide Containers: (NO CHARGE) The County collects triple-rinsed and/or pressure rinsed pesticide containers during normal operating hours at the landfill and at the Elm City, Rock Ridge, Lucama, and Sims convenience centers. Please call the office for directions to these sites. The containers are consolidated at the landfill where they are ground so they can be recycled into new chemical containers.
