Some marriage license laws were changed October 1, 2001. Please call the Register of Deeds office for more information. A marriage license can be used in any county in NC, but the license must be returned to the county that issued the license.  Any certified copies must be obtained from the county of issuance. Both parties must be present. Both must present a valid picture ID and their Social Security Card. If either party is under 21, they must present a certified copy of their birth certificate. Call regarding regulations for those under the age of 18. The marriage license costs $50. Marriage license requests can not be processed after 4:30 PM.
