Wilson County Emergency Medical Services provides emergency paramedic level care and transportation to a largely rural community of about 80,000 people located approximately 45 miles east of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Wilson County was established in 1855. Interstate 95, primary north south route, runs through the western part of the county and US 264, a primary east west route also crosses here.

Wilson County has been primarily agricultural, however over the years it has diversified its economy and is now home to large tire and pharmaceutical manufacturers, an array of smaller manufacturers, antique stores, and other commercial and tourist activities as well as tobacco marketing firms.

The Wilson County EMS System encompasses the 373 miles of Wilson County. Included within the County are the municipalities of Wilson, Elm City, Stantonsburg, Saratoga, Black Creek, Sims, Lucama, and a small section of Sharpsburg.
