Modular Construction Permit Process
Procedure
  1. Print an application or contact the Wilson County Inspections Department for a building permit application. The office is located at:
    Wilson County Miller Road Office Building

  2. Submit the completed application, septic permit, and plot plan along with the third-party-approved modular plans and setup instructions to the Inspections Department for review.
    • Plans must also include any on-site additions. NOTE: Additions attached to a modular construction project will require engineering approval from the manufacturer.
  3. The North Carolina General Statutes require anyone who undertakes to erect a modular dwelling to be either a licensed general contractor or post a modular setup bond in the amount of $5,000. The original bond must be submitted before a permit will be issued. Copies of a bond will not be accepted.
