Physical Examination
What's Included in Physical Examinations
- Initial complete physical done by MD - Includes breast exam, pelvic exam, pap test, and chlamydia and gonorrhea tests
- Limited physical exam each visit by Registered Nurses or Family Nurse Practitioners - Includes abdominal measurement, fetal heart count, and fetal position evaluation
- Blood pressure, weight, and lab test each visit

Other Tests We Perform
- Hemoglobin - Checks for anemia
- Blood type
- Rh Factor
- Urine specimen - Checks for proteins, sugar, ketones, and bacteria
- Rubella titer - Checks to see if you have German Measles
- Syphilis
- HIV
- Hepatitis
- Alpha Feto-Protein - Done between 16 and 20 weeks; Checks for problems with the baby's brain and/or spinal column
- Pap test - Checks for cervical cancer
- Varicella titer - Checks to see if you have had chicken pox
- Sickle cell
- Ultrasound - Done to verify how far along you are; This test is done in a private MD's office
- Non-stress testing - To monitor fetal heart rate later in pregnancy; This test is done in a private MD's office
- Biophysical profile - To monitor body movements, breathing, muscle tone, amniotic fluid, and the way the baby's heart reacts to movement; This test is done in a private MD's office
