If your business or community organization is interested in promoting opportunities in these areas, please contact Amber Burgess, Health Promotion Coordinator, at (252) 237-3141 ext. 6642.
The objective of the Health Promotion Program is to promote the health of the community the areas of:
- Physical Activity
- Obesity Prevention
- Tobacco Awareness
It is our goal to promote increased opportunities for these activities through policy and environmental change in the community. Chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol have all been shown to be related in some part to unhealthy food choices and a serious lack of exercise. All this can be reduced or prevented by making a few lifestyle changes in how people eat and exercising.
