HIV/AIDS Program

HIV/AIDS has become a significant health problem in Wilson County. HIV goes hand and hand with other social problems such as drug abuse, STD, teen pregnancy, and poverty. The HIV/AIDS Program offers HIV testing to the community, educational outreach to any group, services and support to those living with HIV/AIDS.

  • FREE: Confidential HIV Testing by appointment (Monday - Friday 8 am - 3:30 pm)
  • FREE: Educational Programs available to any community group.
  • FREE: CD4 Testing Program and Case Management for HIV positive persons.
  • HIV Case Management for People Living with HIV/AIDS Services Include:
  • Scheduling of doctor's appointments and assistance with transportation to appointments.
  • Complete needs assessment by case manager.
  • Referrals to support groups for clients and family.
  • Resource referrals.
Local HIV/AIDS Organizations:

  • Wilson HIV/AIDS Task Force: Community group involved in education about HIV/AIDS.
  • W.A.V.E.S. (Wilson AIDS Volunteers Educating, and Serving): Assist with limited funds for transportation, medications, and personal necessities.

  • Out of 100 counties Wilson is 11th for HIV in number of cases
  • Out of 100 counties Wilson is 13th for AIDS in number of cases
