Every year, public swimming pool operators must obtain a permit before the pool can
be opened. Once the permit is issued, at least one inspection is made for seasonal pools
and two for year around pools. Public swimming pools include swimming pools,
wading pools, spas and hot tubs. A pool
can be closed for violation of water quality standards or other problems that
are determined to be an imminent hazard.
