1. What type of food service facility is regulated by the Health Department?

We regulate any food service establishment that prepares and serves food to the public for sale. This includes all restaurants, food stands, and temporary food events (TFE).

2. How do I file a complaint about a restaurant and/or possible food related illness?

Call the Environmental Health Section at (252) 291-0468 ext. 6659. The call will be referred to the designated specialist who will in turn, investigate the complaint as soon as possible.

3. Can establishments get a B because of one thing?

No. Notice on the inspection form for restaurants the point values assigned by the state. Maximum points are the left column, half credit is the right column.
