Auditors give the county highest rating on financial practices
Wilson County Government received a “clean” audit report at January's Commissioner's Meeting. Crystal Roberts, Audit Manager, Martin, Starnes & Associates CPA presented the 2016 Audit, giving the county an “unmodified” opinion, which is the highest rating to receive.
Roberts explained that the county staff had been very cooperative to work with and complimented the county’s financial services for their assistance.
“We are pleased with this audit and we continue to explore ways to improve,” said Denise Stinagle, County Manager. “Our Financial Services staff work extremely hard with our departments to ensure the highest standards in financial practices.”
In October 2016, the county received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association. This recognition serves as the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
