[ARCHIVED] DSS VITA Free tax service starts

We are helping Wilson County's families to save more of their money

Wilson County’s VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is coming. For the eleventh year, volunteers will be providing free tax preparation services for low-to-moderate income families in our community. Our DSS staff & volunteers have been attending trainings and learning new skills to become certified to assist with basic tax returns for family income levels under $51,000* a year.

New Feature
This year VITA is offering individuals the option of filing their own taxes. Those choosing this option can type in
(you will have to type this in as an internet search will not find this site).

You can file your state and federal returns on this site. There is a fee if your income is over $56,000. This site is not owned and operated by Wilson County DSS. “We are happy to offer an option for those that have computer experience and want to file their own taxes,” said Amber Denning, VITA coordinator.

Services will take place at the Career Plus office, 114 Pine St., NE, Wilson, NC.
