Local partnership spreads Christmas cheer

DSS & Smithfield-Farmland partner for children

January 9, 2014 - Wilson, NC -The Smithfield-Farmland company and the Wilson County Department of Social Services' Faith Connections program recently teamed up to give Christmas cheer to many needy children and families. Through the company's sponsorship, DSS was able to assist families with over 135 toys that were given by the Smithfield-Farmland employees. Toys were given to families that were referred by DSS social workers.

"This sponsorship was a blessing to so many families," said Becky Stottlemyre, DSS Faith Connections Coordinator. "It brought a lot of smiles."

"This is a great example of a partnership directly benefiting those in need and a great Wilson employer giving back to our community," said Glenn Osborne, DSS Director.

Smithfield-Farmland plans to continue to work with the DSS' Faith Connections program for some ongoing community projects in 2014.
