A minimum of three telecommunicators and a shift supervisor are on duty from 7:00
am - 2:00 am. A minimum of three telecommunicators are on duty from 2:00 am - 7:00 am. The Wilson 9-1-1 Center staff consist of the following: Director Coordinates and oversees the day to day operation of the 9-1-1 system. Assistant Director Supervises all personnel and is responsible for operations in the absence of the Director. Administrative Secretary Performs secretarial, administrative and clerical work in the Center. E911 DataBase Manager
Performs specialized technical work in providing support, training, and consultation of computer services for the ECC. E911 DataBase Coordinator [2] Maintains and compiles information and coordinates maintenance of the database in the computer-aided dispatch system. Training Officer Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and conducting training of new employees as well as regular in-service training and maintaining employee training records. Telecommunicator IV ( Shift Supervisor) [4] Supervises and oversees an assigned team on a rotating shift. Also participates in the activities of telecommunicators. Telecommunicator III (Lead Operator) [4] Answers 9-1-1 lines and dispatches public safety personnel on an assigned rotating shift. Supervises and oversees an assigned team in the absence of the shift supervisor. Telecommunicator I-II [12] Answers of 9-1-1 lines and the dispatching of public safety personnel on an assigned rotating shift. Our telecommunicators are "Wilson's Lifeline". Telecommunicator - Part-Time Answers 9-1-1 lines and the dispatches public safety personnel while covering for colleagues who are on vacation or who are ill. All of our part-time telecommunicators are fully trained as are our full-time telecommunicators. Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Emergency Medical Dispatchers are trained to provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies. Our telecommunicators receive specialized training that provides them with information to give callers. (If you dial 911 with a medical emergency, please answer all questions asked by the telecommunicator. This provides the telecommunicator with information necessary to provide adequate pre-arrival instructions.) Not all 9-1-1 Centers provide EMD and Wilson County is very proud to be among those that provide this life-saving service to its citizens.
