November Happenings

The monthly breakfast will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 beginning at 9:00 am in the kitchen.  Join us for a full breakfast and a chance to socialize.
Charming Chimers
The chime group has begun practicing again at the ProMusic Conservatory on Nash Street every Wednesday beginning at 10:30 am.  No musical talent is needed to enjoy this class.  See Sandra for more information.

Daylight Savings Time
Don't forget to "fall back" one hour on Sunday, November 2, 2014.
Dine Out Club
For November, the Dine Out Club will head to Nashville and Doug Sauls BBQ.  We will leave the center at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 19, 2014.  Note that this is a week ahead of our usual fourth Wednesday, because of the Thanksgiving celebration on November 26, 2014.  Please sign up on the board if you will attend.  A van will be provided.

Game Day
Our monthly Game Day will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, beginning at 1:00 pm in the Multi-purpose room.  Play your game of choice or try one of ours (spades, cornhole, Wii, etc.).  You may get a table together or join together to form a group.
Holiday Closings
The center will be closed on November 11, 2014 for Veteran's Day and November 27-28, 2014 for Thanksgiving.  The staff wishes you and your families a safe and Happy Holiday Season!!

Medicare Presentation
On Friday, November 7, 2014, Armeta Coley from Upper Coastal Plain Area Agency on Aging will be at the center with information about Medicare and what you need to do to enroll.  Don't miss this important presentation.
Reverse Mortgage
Have you wondered what Reverse Mortgage is and if it would be something to benefit you?  If so, please be at the center at 4:30 pm on Thursday, November 13, 2014 to hear a presentation about what Reverse Mortgage is.  Bring your questions for Keri Grzeslo from the State Employees Credit Union.  All are welcome to this free presentation.

Thanksgiving Door Hanger Class
On Thursday, November 20, 2014, we will construct and paint a turkey for the front door or to give as a gift.  All of your supplies needed will be provided and you will have time to complete the project.  The cost for materials is $8 per person and it begins at 10:00 am.  This will be a fun craft project for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Potluck
On Wednesday, November 26, 2014, we will have a potluck lunch to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Join us at 12:00 noon in the Multi-purpose room for food and a chance to celebrate with friends.  The center will provide the turkey and trimmings as well as the tableware.  Please bring a side dish or dessert to share.  Please sign up on the board if you will be attending.
Trip Club
The next meeting of the Trip Club will be on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 beginning at 2:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room.  We are planning a spring trip to either Jamaica or the Bahamas and we are working on a Mediterranean trip for 2016.  All are welcome to attend to help make plans for some exciting trips.

The Music Club of Black Creek Presents "Learn to Play Christmas Music on the Ukelele".  This will take place from October 13, 2014 until November 24, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm and the location will be the Ralph Smith Senior center in Black Creek.  For more information, you can call (252) 363-1705.  There will be some loaner Ukelele's that will be available if you need one.

Veteran's Day
Join us for snacks and drinks to celebrate Veteran's Day on Monday, November 10, 2014, beginning at 1:00 pm in the kitchen.  You do not need to be a veteran in order to join us.  Please sign up on the board if you will be there.
Wills and Power of Attorney
Mark your calendars for next month when Richard Trottier from Legal Aid will be at the center with information about making up a will or a medical or financial POA.  He will also be able to set up appointments for you at that time to get any of these documents made.  He will be here on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 3:30 pm.  More information will follow in the December Newsletter.
