January Happenings

Advisory Council
All members of the Senior Center are eligible to be a part of the Advisory Council.  We meet every second Monday of the month at 9:00 am in the kitchen.  This is a chance for all seniors to give input about things they would like to see happen at the center and to ask questions to staff members.  Please plan to join us on January 12th.

Art Classes
We will finally be starting Art Classes with Horace Raper in February.  We had a list of those interested for a long time, so we will start by calling the people on this list to see if they are still interested.  There will only be 10 spaces per class, but if you want to take the class, we ill offer more sessions each month.  Let the office know if you would like to be added to the list.  For now, our first four-week acrylic session will begin on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.  Other classes will be on the 11th, 18th, and 25th.  There will be enough supplies to get you started.  You need to be able to commit to all 4 sessions to be included.  See Sandra for more information.

Breakfast
The monthly breakfast for January will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 beginning at 9:00 am in the kitchen.  We will have eggs, bacon, biscuits, grits and more.  All are welcome to join us.  Please sign up on the board if you would like to attend.

Charming Chimers
The chime group has begun practicing again at the ProMusic Conservatory on Nash Street every Wednesday beginning at 10:30 am.  No musical talent is needed to enjoy this class.  See Sandra for more information.

Holiday Closings
The center will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2015 for the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.  We will re-open at 7:30 am on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.  Have a great holiday weekend.

Hot Chocolate Bar
What can we do to get through the cold of January?  We can have a hot chocolate bar!  Join us on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in the kitchen for different varieties of hot chocolate and all the fixings to go with it.  The cost for the bar is $1.00 per person.
