Cookie Making Demonstration
If you are interested in learning and receiving some new recipes for Christmas cookies, join us in the kitchen on Friday, December 19, 2014.  The staff will be making a variety of cookies and will share the recipes with anyone who is interested.  We will be there from 8:00 am to noon, so stop by whenever you have a chance.
Dine Out Club
Because of the Christmas events this month, we will be changing the date for the monthly Dine Out to Wednesday, December 17, 2014.  We will travel to Dortch's and Smith's red & White Restaurant for lunch (on your own).  We will have a chance to visit the Red & White store for those who might need candy or sausage for the holidays.  We will leave the center at 11:00 am.  Be sure to sign up on the board if you would like to attend.  A van will be available or you may drive and meet us there.
Holiday Closings
The center will be closed for the Christmas Holidays on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (December 24-26, 2014).  We will re-open at 7:30 am on Monday, December 29, 2014.  We will also be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2015 to celebrate New Year's Day.  The staff of the center wish all of our seniors a joyous holiday season!
New Year's Eve Lunch
On Wednesday, December 31, 2014, we will have a lunch to celebrate the New Year beginning at noon in the kitchen.  Join us for meat, black eyed peas and collards to celebrate.  Cost for the lunch will be $3 per person.  Sign up on the board to join us.

Santa for Seniors
The center is pleased to be partnering with Walgreens for the third year to bring gifts to deserving seniors for Christmas.  For those who are unfamiliar with the program, the center receives referrals from area service agencies to find seniors who are in need or alone for the holidays.  Each senior chooses items that they need from a provided list.  These wishes are attached to an ornament which is placed on a tree at either Wilson Walgreens location.  Anyone can choose an ornament, purchase gifts and return the gifts to Walgreens or the center.  All gifts are brought to the center for distribution right before Christmas (our Sheriff's Department acts as elves).  You can help us with this program by: adopting a senior yourself or with a group; donating your unused wrapping paper; volunteering to make packages for distribution; or making a donation in the jar at the front to help purchase gifts for those not adopted.  This has been a great program bringing joy to local seniors.  Be a part of it!

Thomas Yelverton Pre-Planning Information
On Friday, December 5, 2014 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, there will be a representative available from Thomas Yelverton to answer any questions about pre-planning for yourself or your family and friends.  Stop by the table to get some valuable information.
Wills and Power of Attorney
On Thursday, December 4, 2014, we will welcome Richard Trottier from Legal Aid to the center for a presentation about wills, medical and durable powers of Attorney.  This will be a great presentation for those of you who need to get these documents in place and fort hose of us who do not yet have them.  Mr. Trottier will bring information and will be able to set up appointments at Legal Aid for those that are interested.  Plan to be there beginning at 3:30 pm.  This is a free event.
