Influenza (Flu)

Vaccination
The best way for you to protect yourself against the flu is to get vaccinated! Each year, the Health Department offers the flu vaccine to the public. In addition to the adult vaccination, injections are being offered for children ages six months through 18 years for the first time this year. It is strongly encouraged to get vaccinated if you have a health condition that may put you more at risk of contracting the flu such as diabetes, liver disease, chronic lung disease, or HIV / AIDS.

Avoiding the Flu
Other ways to avoid the flu include:
  • Staying away from those who are ill
  • Washing your hands frequently with soap and water or an antibacterial hand sanitizer
